AFTN Soccer Show (Vancouver Whitecaps/MLS)

The AFTN football/soccer podcast primarily about Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, and the Canadian Premier League with lots of interviews and fun segments thrown in.

Vancouver Whitecaps were back at it on Saturday night. We look back at the 2-2 draw with Colorado Rapids and hear from 'Caps coach Marc Dos Santos. It was another two points dropped at home though. Can the 'Caps make those up on the road and what will the second half of the MLS season hold in store for them? We look at all that and a lot more.

Plus we look at Canada's progress on the international stage with a look at the action in the Gold Cup and Women's World Cup, and hear from both national team head coaches.

Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode:

02.20: Vancouver Whitecaps v Colorado Rapids analysis
34.56: Vancouver Whitecaps - the road ahead
55.05: Canada Women's World Cup and VAR chat
70.00: Canada Gold Cup chat featuring John Herdman audio
85.01: Wavelength - Teen Anthems - Swansea City
88.50: BC Soccerweb headlines - news stories from around the world of football

The break is over, Vancouver Whitecaps are back at it, and so are the AFTN preview podcast crew.

Joe and Gideon are back with AFTN's latest preview podcast as they look ahead to the 'Caps match at home to Colorado Rapids on Saturday. The Rapids have come storming back of late after a dreadful start to the season and a win this weekend would see them move level on points with the Whitecaps.

Can the 'Caps stop the Rapids resurgence? Do they have enough depth to handle the four key players away on international duty with Canada? And can they get not make life difficult for themselves at the end of matches by finally putting a game to bed?

All this and more are discussed, so have a listen!

The boys are back in town, just as some Vancouver Whitecaps are out of town. It's the Gold Cup break and the 'Caps have three weeks off. We recharged our batteries last weekend but are back to look at how the Whitecaps stand at this halfway(ish) point of the MLS season.

What's been the highlights, the lowlights, and the major positives and concerns up to this point? With the 'Caps missing four key defensive pieces to Gold Cup duty with Canada, how will the team cope in some crucial games coming up at the end of the month? That's just one of the things we ask 'Caps coach Marc Dos Santos and Vancouver midfielder Andy Rose as we sit down for a couple of interviews with them.

Plus there's lots of Gold Cup and Women's World Cup chat, and we bring you audio for Canadian men's national team head coach John Herdman and bring you a pair of interviews with two of the 'Caps Canadians, Max Crepeau and Russell Teibert.

We also continue our 1979 NASL Soccer Bowl celebrations, and our Wavelength section this week pays tribute to Leyton's Orient's boss Justin Edinburgh. who sadly passed away this weekend.
