Monday Nov 22, 2021
Monday Nov 22, 2021
The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, and Canadian football chat.
It's a playoff edition as we look at the highs and lows for the two BC teams in postseason action this weekend, as the Whitecaps MLS season came to an end in Kansas City, but Pacific FC's continued as they made it to the Canadian Premier league championship game.
We kick things off with some 'Caps chat, who are one and done after going down to a 3-1 defeat at Sporting KC in the MLS playoffs. What went wrong? What was with the line-up? And should we be feeling a bit downbeat about crashing out early, optimistic about what they've achieved and the future, or a combination of all of that?
We look at the main talking points from the game and hear from 'Caps coach Vanni Sartini, plus we round up the rest of the weekend's MLS playoff action.
But it was far better news for Pacific FC as they beat Cavalry FC, in somewhat controversial circumstances, in their semi-final to reach their first ever CPL championship game against Forge FC in two week's time. We chat about both semis, set up the final, and hear from Pacific head coach Pa Modou Kah and Cavalry's Tommy Wheeldon Jr.

It's been another week of non stop football action and talking points for us to delve into and we kick things off by looking at a busy week in the transfer market for the Whitecaps, with three new additions and two guys going out on loan. We look at all of that, hear some thoughts from 'Caps coach Marc Dos Santos, and chat to the latest addition, German defender Florian Jungwirth.
The Whitecaps were in action on Sunday night, coming up with their seventh draw of the season down in LA. We pick over the bones of that Galaxy game, the highs and lows, and hear the post games thoughts of MDS and MLS debutant Ryan Gauld.
Our feature interview this week is with the Whitecaps Jamaican defender Javain Brown as we chat about his move to the college in the US, coming to Vancouver, and the start of his pro career in MLS so far.
Plus we round up the weekend's action around MLS West, look back at the Olympic gold medal winning performance from Canada's women's team, and chat about the future of women's soccer here in Canada.

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps and MLS chat.
The Whitecaps finally have their number 10. Scottish playmaker Ryan Gauld was unveiled at training this week and there's a spring in our tartan steps here at the AFTN Soccer Show.
We look at the impact Ryan might have on the team, but temper those expectations that he's going to come in become a messiah right away. Although Vancouver do need some help as they sink to the foot of the Western Conference standings after the midweek action.
We sit down for a chat with Ryan to talk about his career so far and his move to Vancouver, in one of three exclusive one on ones this episode. We also get the thoughts of 'Caps coach Marc Dos Santos on Ryan and what's next for the team.
Plus we chat with 'Caps keeper Maxime Crepeau after his return to the team from Gold Cup action with Canada. We talk about that heartbreaking semi final loss to Mexico, try and find out what kicked off at the end, look at the successful tournament for Canada and the hope for the future for World Cup qualifying, and talk about finally being back in Vancouver and getting the 'Caps firing again.
