The Whitecaps extended their unbeaten run to six matches on Friday night. It may have been another draw, but every point counts, especially on the road, and it's a case of slowly, slowly catchy monkey as they climb the Western Conference standings.
We pick over the bones of Vancouver's scoreless draw in San Jose, chat about a solid defensive effort, the offensive spark we saw later in the game, and talk injury concerns. It's been another week of non stop football action and talking points for us to delve into and we kick things off by looking at a busy week in the transfer market for the Whitecaps, with three new additions and two guys going out on loan. We look at all of that, hear some thoughts from 'Caps coach Marc Dos Santos, and chat to the latest addition, German defender Florian Jungwirth.

The Whitecaps finally have their number 10. Scottish playmaker Ryan Gauld was unveiled at training this week and there's a spring in our tartan steps here at the AFTN Soccer Show.
We look at the impact Ryan might have on the team, but temper those expectations that he's going to come in become a messiah right away. Although Vancouver do need some help as they sink to the foot of the Western Conference standings after the midweek action.

What a week of football. What a week of emotions. There's been highs, there's been heartbreak, there's been feelings of immense pride and gut punches. Would we have it any other way? Well we try and cover it all in this episode.
Kicking things off with the Whitecaps, we pick over the bones of their 2-2 draw with Minnesota United in their final 'home' match in Utah and hear from head coaches Marc Dos Santos and Adrian Heath and the man that gave away the crucial penalty at the end, Minnesota's Ethan Finlay.
It wasn't a great overall performance, but the Whitecaps showed fight to leave with a point. They need a lot more though, can Ryan Gauld provide that for them now that he's officially signed? And what other help do they need?

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, Canadian Premier League, and Canadian national team chat.
What a fantastic feast of football, and indeed sport, was served up this weekend. And most of it gives us a lot of positives to chat about this week.
We start off in MLS with the Whitecaps. They may have given up a two goal lead, but there were a lot of positives to be taken and foundations laid from their draw at LAFC. We look back at the highs, the lows, and the main talking points coming out of the match, hear from head coaches Marc Dos Santos and Bob Bradley, and round up the weekend's action in MLS.
The Whitecaps have now headed back to Vancouver for the first time since March, and while they won't be playing home games here until August 21st, they can at least train and be in their own surroundings. We look at their return, the boost it's given the team, and hear the thoughts of MDS, Russell Teibert, and Brian White on finally getting back to Canada.
Moving onto the international stage, the 2021 Gold Cup is at the semi-final stage and Canada are there to battle it out for a place in the final after their win over Costa Rica. We look back at that excellent quarter-final performance, hear from head coach John Herdman, and he and Max Crepeau share some thoughts about a wide open tournament.

It felt like it may never happen again, but we've finally got another Whitecaps win to talk about! We pick over the bones of Vancouver's 2-1 come from behind win over the LA Galaxy on Saturday night. A game that ended an eight match winless run. We chat about all the highs and the lows, look ahead to the Houston game on Tuesday, talk incoming additions, and hear from head coach Marc Dos Santos.

It was more stoppage time heartbreak for the Whitecaps on Sunday night, giving up a late equaliser to draw 2-2 in Dallas. We pick over the bones of the game, ponder the 'Caps stoppage time woes, worry about what this latest late lapse will do the team, and look ahead at what's to come. Plus we hear some thoughts from Whitecaps head coach Marc Dos Santos and centre back Andy Rose.
The other big Whitecaps news this weekend was the club parting ways with Iraqi left-back Ali Adnan. The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, and Canadian football chat.
It feels like the new MLS season has only just started, but the Whitecaps are about to go on a 27 day break between matches after this weekend's game in Houston against the Dynamo. And they'll want to round off phase 1 of the campaign with a bang. Can they though?
It's been a mixed bag for both teams so far this season, so much so that trying to decide which ones will turn up for the match is not an easy task. Gideon Hill and Peter Hicken return to try and make sense of the weekend's encounter, look at the strength and weaknesses of both sides, and who and will be the keys to the game and coming away with all three points.

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps and MLS.
What a difference a week makes. We were all feeling quite optimistic about the Whitecaps last weekend, but two straight defeats has quickly taken the wind out of our sails a little bit, but is it really all doom and gloom?
We look back at the 'Caps defeat in Kansas City on Sunday afternoon, and try and work out not so much what went wrong, as that was painfully obvious, but how on earth they can go about fixing it. Plus we hear from both head coaches, Vancouver's Marc Dos Santos and KC's Paddington Bear-esque Peter Vermes, and look ahead to Vancouver next match against Houston.
Plus we round up the best of the action across MLS this past weekend and bring you some football stories from around the world that caught our eyes this week.
